Your senior gave you notes. Your new Physics book shows different chapter names. Whose list is right? Your own book is. This guide shows what each PECTAA 2026 FSc book covers in Class 11 and Class 12, so you can match your notes to your page.
Start with a small problem. You open the Chemistry book and Chapter 1 is not what your senior studied. That is not a mistake. PECTAA, the Punjab Education Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority, has issued new books. We looked at each book's contents page and checked it against at least two public listings. We could not open the PECTAA website, so please check this list against your printed copy. Some copies are marked "Experimental Edition".
What changed
News reports from August 2026 say PECTAA released revised intermediate textbooks: eight core books. They replace the 2002 syllabus and follow the National Curriculum of Pakistan. The reports add that the Class 9 and Class 11 books were revised earlier.
Some changes we noticed in older lists:
- Physics 12 now has 9 chapters. An older list shows 10.
- English 12 now has 13 units, and the last unit is a full novel, The Pearl.
- Urdu 12 now has 22 pieces. An older 16-piece list is a different edition.
- Pakistan Studies 12 now has six chapters, in Urdu. Older editions had a chapter on human rights.
These are differences between the lists we compared. They are not a full list of changes, so your teacher's word and your own book come first.
Which board?
PECTAA writes the Punjab books. The exams are held by the Punjab boards, such as Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Gujranwala. Gujrat is one of the districts under the Gujranwala board. The news reports describe the new books for intermediate students in Punjab, and we found no report of a separate book for one board. Dates, papers and notices come from your own board, so read them.

- Physics: 9 chapters: Thermal Physics, Simple Harmonic Motion, Physical Optics, Electrostatics, Alternating Current, Quantum Physics, Nuclear and Particle Physics, Medical Physics, and Space and Environment. The contents page says 1 to 9. The headings inside say 13 to 21.
- Chemistry: 17 units, numbered 17 to 33. Unit 17 is Group 2 Elements. Then come Transition Metals, Basics of Organic Chemistry and the organic units after it (Aromatic Hydrocarbons, Halogenoalkanes, Hydroxy Compounds, Carbonyls and Carboxylic Acids, Organic Nitrogen Compounds and Organic Synthesis), Polymers, Biochemistry, Chromatography, two Spectroscopy units, Materials and Energy, Medicine, Agriculture and Industry, and Water.

- Urdu: 22 pieces.
- Pakistan Studies: six chapters, written in Urdu.
How to use this list
- Open your book to the contents page. Find your subject above.
- Match the chapter titles. If they match, your book is the one this list describes.
- Pick one chapter. Read its first page. Ask the question it asks before you read the answer.
- Write down any title that differs and show it to your teacher. Your teacher knows your college's notices.
Smart Syllabus for Class 11
PECTAA notified a Smart Syllabus for Class 11 for the Annual 2026 exam. It names topics and exercises left out of that exam. For example, Maths 11 Unit 8 (Mathematical Induction and Binomial Theorem) was left out completely, and so was the polar form in Unit 1. In English 11, units 4, 7, 9 and 12 were left out. We found no notice for the 2027 exam and no official list for Class 12. Do not skip a topic because a friend says so. Read your board's notice.
Common mistakes
- Studying from old notes by chapter name. Check the topic in your own book first.
- Mixing chapter numbers. Physics 12 shows 1 to 9 on the contents page and 13 to 21 inside. Pick one and stay with it.
- Treating a left-out topic as unreadable. It is still in the book and it can help you understand the next topic.
- Trusting a list without a check. Open your book. Match the title and the page.
Quick check

- What number does the first unit of the Class 12 Chemistry book carry? Answer: 17. The units run from 17 to 33.
- Which board covers Gujrat district? Answer: The Gujranwala board.
- Which unit opens the Class 11 Maths book? Answer: Unit 1, Complex Numbers.

Where to start
Pick the chapter that matches your book, then learn it one step at a time. These lessons follow the PECTAA chapters: Periodic Trends in Chemistry 11 (/learn/fsc-1/chemistry/periodic-trends), Kinetic Theory of Gases in Physics 12 (/learn/fsc-2/physics/kinetic-theory-of-gases) and Homeostasis in Biology 12 (/learn/fsc-2/biology/homeostasis). Not every chapter has a lesson yet. We add more as we check each one against the book.
