Dengue Fever: the mosquito that loves clean water

The problem

Most of us picture mosquitoes in dirty drains. The dengue mosquito is different. It breeds in clean water, often inside our homes: a cooler, a flower pot, an old tyre on the roof.

In Pakistan, dengue was first reported in Karachi in 1994. By 2011, the situation in Lahore had become alarming. This lesson is a real government awareness text, and it teaches both English and how to protect your family.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection. It is also known as break-bone fever, because of the severe pain in muscles and joints.
